Chris Kiefer is thrilled to serve as the Varsity Men's Basketball Coach at Coeur du Christ Academy. Born and raised near Portland, OR, Chris developed an early passion for basketball, nurtured by his father, an elementary PE teacher. His dream of playing college basketball started in eighth grade and was realized at Carroll College, a diocesan Catholic liberal arts school in Helena, Montana.
While at Carroll, Chris was deeply involved in campus ministry as a peer minister and served as Student Body President. He earned a degree in Engineering Science and met his wife, Natalie. His basketball achievements include a state championship in high school and competing in the NAIA national tournament with the Carroll College Men's Basketball team in 2011. Post-college, he served as a Varsity Assistant and Freshman Coach at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton, OR, for two years.
Chris's personal mission is to champion the relentless pursuit of purpose, focusing on grit, mindset, and leadership. He believes team sports are a microcosm of the real world and is dedicated to positively influencing the young men at CDCA.
Married to Natalie for ten years, they now have four children and are active parishioners at St. Thomas. Chris recently completed a term on the Parish Council and is a strong supporter of the Catholic community in North Idaho. Outside of coaching, he is passionate about data, automation, and technology, advocating that technology should free us to spend more time with our loved ones and deepen our relationship with God.
Fun Fact: Chris and his wife, Natalie, have won three co-ed Hoopfest championships. In 2017, while producing a documentary, Beat Feet, Chris had the unique opportunity to meet one-on-one with Coach Mike Krzyzewski. (During their one-hour meeting, Chris made sure that he learned everything Coach K knows about basketball)
