Fr. Matt Libra was born and raised in Oregon and worked in youth ministry before entering seminary. He is grateful to have grown up in a family of faith that helped him develop a relationship with Jesus and the Church. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon on 9 June 2012 by then Archbishop John G. Vlazny. He was assigned to St. Rose of Lima Parish and School by Archbishop Alexander King Sample on 1 July 2013 and currently serves there as pastor. He holds an STB degree from the Angelicum and an STL degree from the John Paul II Institute of Marriage and Family Studies, as well as certificates in spiritual direction from the Institute for Priestly Formation.
Father Libra has been privileged to work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, assist the chaplain at the US Navy base in Naples, Italy, serve as a hospital chaplain in Phoenix, AZ, study abroad college campuses and the Missionaries of Charity. In addition to being pastor he has served as Respect Life Chaplain for the Archdiocese, Vicar Forane of the NE Portland Vicariate, and board member of Theology of the Body Parent School (TOBPS).
