Working in classical, Catholic education is not for the faint of heart. Yet, it is some of the most spiritually rewarding work a Catholic can do. If you love the Lord, if you love teenagers enough to call them higher than the world calls them, and if you love the intellectual life, then you may be called to form teenagers into Saints, Scholars, and Servants; Coeur du Christ Academy may be the field in which God desires for you to serve.

Excellent teachers enjoy and contribute to the social, intellectual, and spiritual culture of a faculty of friends; but the excellent teacher is also a competent professional who takes initiative, maintains high standards, and meets deadlines.

The excellent teacher speaks well, listens to his students, and sees his students with a loving gaze. She laughs and sings with her students. Great teachers never stop studying; they themselves remain always students, but the best teachers also know their discipline well enough to explain it excellently. They know their disciplines well enough to ask the most illuminating questions. Teaching is an adventure, so great teachers also explore God’s creation with their students.

Most crucially: teachers are faithful and devout, and they burn intensely with the desire to share the Sacred Heart of Jesus with their students. Teaching in a Catholic environment is an art more than a science. It is the art of making well-rounded, wise, and virtuous students. It is the art of making—and ourselves becoming—Saints. What a joyful art! What a beautiful vocation!
